Gary L. Comer, Jr. is an Extension Educator with the Ohio State University's Extension Sea Grant College Program Currently serving as the Ohio Clean Marinas Program Coordinator. The Ohio Clean Marinas Program is a proactive partnership designed to encourage marinas and boaters to use simple, innovative solutions to keep Ohio's coastal and inland waterway resources clean. The Program assists these operators in protecting the resources that provide their livelihood - clean water and fresh air.
Mr. Comer's academic background includes an A.A.S. from Hocking Technical College in Wildlife & Recreation in 1988, a B.S. in Fisheries & Wildlife Biology from Arkansas Tech University in 1991, and a M.S. in Wildlife Science from Texas Tech University. Mr. Comer brings experience with Extension outreach education to the Sea Grant Program; he was previously an OSU Extension Educator in Logan County Ohio since 1994 where he focused primarily on Natural Resources, Water Quality and Watershed Management education and outreach. Mr. Comer also served as County Extension Director for the Logan County Extension Office.
Gary has been with the Ohio Sea Grant College Program since April 1, 2005. He is married to his wife Kristi, and has 2 children, Noah and Meristin. Currently Mr. Comer lives in Logan County near Bellefontaine, OH and is looking forward to moving to the Sandusky area in the immediate future. He enjoys outdoor recreation such as hunting fishing, and amateur training of Labrador Retrievers to compete in UKC & AKC hunt tests.
